Conferences

The conference spectrum is pretty broad, so if you can take some time to give a whiff of what the conference is about, this can be a much more helpful list.

Conference

Location, Dates Gist
Personal Democracy Forum May 18, NYC "If you want to learn how to optimize the use of technology in your campaigns, how to master the new media system of blogs, podcasting, mobile phones and online video; and how to raise money, move messages and impact voting more effectively, PDF is the place to be." Very focused on campaigns, electoral and otherwise.
Net Squared May 29 - 30, San Jose, CA Organized by the Tech Soup / Compumentor Folks.

Beyond Broadcast Feb 24, Cambridge MA
NTC April 4-6, Washington DC Broad, vendor heavy, but a really good place to meet the tech staff of other NPOs and talk to them about the tools they need, like, etc. There are a lot of "birds of a feather" type sessions possible, so if folks are going it might be worth organizing a media /publishing one to talk about what other media organizations are using.
Penguin Day April 7, Washington DC Specifically focused on Free and Open Source Software for non-profit organizations. Worth sticking around for if you are going to NTC and interested in talking about Free Software options and opportunities.
SXSW Interactive March 9-13, Austin, TX Great parties ...

O'Reilly's ETech

March 26-29, San Diego, CA "From the infrastructure supporting mass-market players, the promise of mass computing, and alternative energy sources to personalized medicine, movie magic, web heresies, and talking paper, ETech 2007 explores the technological rejiggering and changes in perspective that are poised to blast off into the realm of magic."
LIFT Feb 7-9, Geneva, Switzerland "LIFT is a gathering of talented observers, explorers, and builders who discuss the current challenges and creative solutions presented by emerging technologies. LIFT is three days to face cutting edge business models, bold predictions, radical thinking, and get new ideas to inject into your own part of the planet."
Take Back America Not announced yet Big progressive get-together. Somewhat repetitive yearly program schedule, but good for meeting folks.
